The Grandmaster Triathlon is the highlight of the 2023 Biel/Bienne International Chess Festival. The 8-player tournament takes place from 16-26 July in Biel/Bienne, Switzerland, with all three time formats counting towards the final score. For the classical games the players receive 100 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 50 minutes for 20 moves, then 15 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one. A win in a classical game is worth 4 points, with 1.5 points for a draw. In the Rapid (15min+5s) phase a win is worth 2 points and a draw 1 point. The Blitz (3+2) is played as a double round-robin with normal points. In case of a tie, the ranking in the ACCENTUS Chess960 decides upon the final ranking of the Triathlon and the corresponding prizes.
